Title: Evidence at Current Clinical Standards
Presentation:
Gonadotrophin preparations containing FSH and LH activity provide a differentiated pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic profile compared with those containing only FSH activity including differences in follicular development, ovarian response, embryo quality, endocrine profile and endometrial profile.
The impact of different gonadotrophins on treatment outcome has been explored in the long GnRH agonist protocol in several randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and recent meta-analyses demonstrate the use of menotrophins for controlled ovarian stimulation provide higher ongoing pregnancy/live birth rates than rFSH.
This presentation will include data comparing the efficacy and safety of HP-hMG (MENOPUR) and rFSH in a large randomised controlled trial that incorporates new trends in clinical practice including GnRH antagonist down-regulation, lower starting gonadotrophin doses, compulsory single embryo transfer at the blastocyst stage for all patients in the fresh cycle as well as in the subsequent frozen embryo replacement (vitrified blastocysts) in natural cycles (Nyboe Andersen et al. 2011).
