The Melbourne Convention Centre is conveniently located on the banks of the Yarra River in the heart of the city with a wide range and style of accommodation on its doorstep. The Centre is easily accessible from every direction by foot, car or public transport and is surrounded by cafes, bars, shopping and fine restaurants, with the Yarra River lapping at its edges.
To build the City’s rich conferencing history, in July 2009 Melbourne is proud to open its new Convention Centre like no other - Australia’s premier convention centre. It is fully integrated with the existing exhibition centre creating the most versatile and advanced convention and exhibition centre in the Southern Hemisphere.
Setting new world benchmarks as the first convention centre to be awarded a ‘6 Star Green Star’ environmental rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, the centre is also raising standards to new heights in innovation, technology, imaginative catering and service options.
The new centre is part of an A$1.4 billion development in South Wharf which includes a Hilton Hotel, a lifestyle retail precinct and 60,000 sq m (646,000 sq ft) of shopping space.
